Always impeccable!
So, here’s the deal. Back in the day, I really was a beauty queen & a supermodel, This was in the old days when retouching was super expensive because it was done by hand on the photo, Photoshop hadn’t been invented yet and filters were colored lenses on the camera.
You either showed up to work with radiant skin, perfect nails and strong, shiny hair, or you were sent home. Not just home from the shoot, but sometimes home for good!
Staying on top of my game to look effortlessly beautiful day in and day out for decades was actually constant work. Between endless plane travel that dries skin like a prune, jet lag that messes with sleep cycle, shoots standing in hot sun that cause dark spots & wrinkles, and mountains of powder & foundation that would clog pores and irritate skin, keeping my skin smooth, supple and radiant became my mission.
Rather than high fashion and cat walks, I was a beauty model for cosmetic clients which meant tight close ups and impeccable magazine covers. My hair would be styled to within an inch of its life & makeup was applied over and over again for shoots each and every day. Applying, removing, and reapplying foundation, eyeliner and lipsticks for 10 hours straight for years, my skin naturally became irritated and depleted and needed serious support to keep it gorgeous. It also meant that I had to learn some powerful beauty lessons. Certain critical guidelines were:
- Never sleep in your make up
- Never rip false eyelashes off
- Learn to eat and drink without ruining the lipstick
- Never touch your face with dirty hands
- Never share mascara or lip gloss
- Drink lots of water
- Never furrow your brow or rub your eyes
- Always clean, hydrate, and nourish your skin to keep it gorgeously line-free and ready for tomorrow.
You have to understand, I was a product junkie. Every possible product that I worked with, plus mountains of new lotions, creams and formulas were given to me for years. Plus, I loved buying exotic brands, and was always up tor the newest thing to try out. My bathroom looked like a beauty bar, I had more product than I could ever reasonably use (and kind of still do) and through all of this, I found out something amazing. NONE of these products ever actually healed or nourished my skin the way it claimed. Sure they brightened eyes for a party, or gave me a boost in a pinch, but the long term healing and well-being of my skin was never improved by the fortunes I spent in high-end creams and lotions. Over time, even the most exclusive brands inflamed rosacea, caused sensitivity, blackheads and irritation, and could not keep my skin’s oily/dry balance in check. I was spending hundreds of dollars on fancy bottles and pretty advertising but not getting the results my skin deserved.

At first, I began making my own cream. These were just for me, and maybe a few jars for girlfriends who wanted my secret. It was my students who began asking about my skin care. They knew I was no longer a kid, but my real age shocked them. Look, I don’t need to look 25 again, and I don’t lie about the numbers, but folks have regularly assumed a younger age simply because of the tone, texture and clearness of my skin. When I tell them that I make my own cream, they immediately want some too.
These photos show the comparison. Left is a selfie from May 2019, the right is professional shot from Jan 2007. Oh, note the three tiny holes in the crease of my nose? Yeah, that’s scarring from an over zealous esthetician with a laser beam. Also, facial peels and other supposedly safe treatments for my pregnancy induced Melasma made my skin super fragile and caused damage that took years to repair. This is precisely why I never use Botox or fillers or any type of artificial augmentations because that is just too risky for my face. I want living, nourished skin that will last me for a lifetime!

Now, I am no longer in front of the camera the way I used to be, but my skin continues to need support. Over 50 and post menopause, yeah hate to say it, but hormonal changes really do affect your skin. Plus, as a working mom with two teenagers, I need super easy skin care.
Sacred Circle Oils were developed with this at heart. Intentionally natural beauty care that elevates your radiance, promotes health and wellbeing, enlightens your senses and generates a high vibrational frequency to combat the ravages of time and the deluge of toxicity. The fragrances uplift your mind and soothe your spirit. The oils and herbs are sourced as ethically and lovingly as possible. The Reiki I add simply because it’s a part of everything that I do ;).
Handmade in small batches, I craft each formula carefully and with great love. These products are just one part of the daily rituals used to generate better health and nourish your being, but I think it’s an important one. When you feel beautiful and healthy inside, you shine beautiful and healthy on the outside. A habit of living authentic beauty everyday naturally raises your frequency & radiates beauty into everything that you do.
