Being given a book of knowledge is a profound gift, because it leaves the choice up to you to decide if you will open it or not.
It leaves you open to the cosmic force of your own free will to decide to stay asleep, or begin to groggily awaken. How often have we all hit the snooze button on our lives, and decided to allow ourselves to luxuriate in what seems like coziness, but is actually the warm sticky mud of our programming?
The thing is, once we get a glimpse of the mire that we have actually been sleeping in, we can become shocked alert. The mess of the life we have created by our sleep-walking, the hurt, anger fear and betrayal we have participated in by our ignorance…. well, there’s no going back to sleep after that. Sometimes, even panic sets in.
Once we know, we can’t un-know. For pretending after we really see, feels like a pretense, and our soul begins to chafe.
To soothe our frazzled awareness once we actually see what we really have been doing, we must take charge of our responsibility to ourselves, and to the others that we may have damaged, slighted or wronged. Perhaps we do this because our innate sense of morality, right and wrong, kicks in. Frequently, we start to lift ourselves up, by grasping for the tools of dogma found in the religions of antiquity. We seek to try and understand what’s going on and to remedy it by any means possible. And that’s actually an important part of the process too. It is part of the growing up as a society that we are each called to enact,. We must go back and really look though the dusty annals of historical reference, before we can clearly see what is outdated and no longer serves the paradigm of today.
The tenants of the past, which may hold great wisdom, cannot bring us beyond where that story left off. We are the ones today who must write the next chapters for tomorrow.
Reading a book, feeling the energy of the author, from yours truly to the Dalai Lama, is the hidden gift in the story. There are words, artfully arranged on the page so that they elicit an image or insight or understanding. But then, there is the transmission which is laid out in the energetic frequency of the words. Think of this as the code of intention behind the words. In this context, there is a higher mind that is used to channel the concepts in the first place. (For where does inspiration come from, if not the Higher mind of the Divine? It is nonsensical hubris to imagine that any human, no matter how intelligent and learned, can hold all of consciousness intact. )
An open-channel mind, one which has trained and devoted itself to receiving, listening, watching, learning and seeing with an inner eye, will connect to and then transmit this information forward like a code towards the mind of the reader. In this, new wisdom is found. Not simply on the page itself, but in the mind of the reader who allows it residence. The reader then becomes the one who interacts with it, who opens up insight like a pop-up book, and then gives it breath forward to all life beyond. This is a cosmic dance. One where the alchemy of the writer and the reader form a bridge, like a spiral across time, to awaken something unique and new each and every time this contact is created.
This is why, when you read a book again and again, each time you activate a new thought, a new connection, a new “a-ha” moment of understanding. This is because your link to the Consciousness is never ending, never complete. It is an ever-changing, twirling facet of insight that you evoke each time you connect. These sparkling new strands of light codes have filtered throughout all of the Cosmos to spark a new light of understanding into your awareness. Seriously.
How lucky we are to have millions of pages of wisdom available at our fingertips, on our devices and in our libraries? How powerful it is that scribes and teachers for millennia beyond counting have faithfully transcribed what they found, what they heard, what they saw, felt and gleaned, so that this moment of brilliance could be passed down to YOU, and integrated into a brand new experience for wonder and awareness that had never previously existed in prior generations.
The old ways are meant to be a stepping stone to greater awakening, not a barrier or hindrance for belief to progress. By remaining forever at the threshold but never entering the room, we do ourselves damage and may even harm others by our desire to hinder their progress as well. We feel the scathing burn of not-movement, the agony of being pressed right up to the point of the breakthrough that we must follow, not because it is easy but because it is crucial.
For awaken we must – all of us, The days of sleepwalking are coming to an end. Ignorance is no longer bliss or optional. Maybe these words and transmission are your alarm bell, ringing for you to awaken?
